The Commonwealth of Virginia took official action yesterday to schedule a special election for the 5th District Richmond City Council seat on November 5, 2019.
I believe that effective public leadership must be rooted in caring about people, listening to the community. and having the courage to tackle tough problems. That’s why I’m running for the 5th District seat.
5th District voters expect their Councilperson to respond quickly to their needs and concerns. They also expect mature, consensus-building leadership on City Council. In doing the work needed to build a thriving Fifth District, I am committed to both. For our district and our city to thrive, we must strengthen our schools, expand economic opportunities, and dramatically improve the performance of City government.
City Hall is a challenging environment. The 5th District needs a representative who understands how the City functions and is prepared to help drive positive change from day one. I have worked hard to help provide Richmond residents who need it most greater access to opportunity for themselves and their kids. My candidacy builds on that commitment, and I will work tirelessly to confront our community’s toughest challenges in a constructive, solutions-driven manner as a member of City Council.
