I love Richmond. It is for that reason that I am deeply committed to helping build a city that provides economic opportunity for all and excellent education for all children. Improving the effectiveness of our City government is vital to achieving those goals.
Over the past eight years I’ve had the chance to engage with and serve in City government in several roles, and during this time I have seen first-hand the complex policy and practical challenges we face. Though I am grateful to have been able to serve, it is clear far more work must be done for Richmond to become the community and city we all want and deserve.
Last night, Richmond City Council took the first step towards scheduling a special election for the 5th District Council seat being vacated by the Hon. Parker Agelasto.
I am strongly considering becoming a candidate for this seat.
As a 5th District resident since 2005, I know my neighbors seek a community-focused, progressive, independent representative that can bring mature, consensus-building leadership to City Council.
I will continue to listen closely to 5th District voters over the coming days as I assess this important opportunity.
